Facebook Announcement

August 4, 2010 at 11:30 am (Self Promotion)

It’s official now.  I have made an announcement on facebook, so it must be real.  I have a blog.  I’d like to take a moment now to thank my 4-5 readers for their commitment during the (very) obscure period.  I am hoping, though let’s not make too many assumptions, that this announcement will lead to another 5-6 readers–I’m counting on family especially.  So now that readership is about to *fingers crossed* double I thought I’d write a little introduction.

The basic purpose of this blog is to give me a forum to practice writing.  I like to write novels, but the problem there is it’s just me in a vacuum–all output, no input.  I like the idea of a blog, because it’s so quick and easy and the pressure is exceptionally low.  That was how I came into the blog about six months ago–in a very selfish way, desiring only to please myself.  This is still the case, frankly, though it has evolved a bit.

Basically what you will find here are:

***Lists of Seven–basically cultural commentary in list form

***Reviews–love letters to things I adore

***Ruminations–random babblings from my mind

***Detroit is Gotham–thoughts and pictures proving my technically false, but still very persuasive theory that Detroit is Gotham

***Creativity–very rarely I may post creative work.

***Self Promotion–links to my etsy page and blog promotion.

***Awesome Stuff–links to things I like.

There you have it.  So, to new readers and old, I welcome you to explore the blog and enjoy yourself.

A Store is Born

May 21, 2010 at 11:35 am (Self Promotion)

I recently opened a storefront on etsy.com and I’m here to promote my new endeavor: www.detroitisgotham.etsy.com. I’ve gotten compliments on my knitted goods for years, so I thought this would be easy, but so far it’s not. I don’t know what to make or how much to charge for it and I live in terror of showing up on this site: www.regretsy.com. It’s funny how much you can second guess yourself in a sitation like this. I’ll think something looks beautiful and brilliant and expensive and in the next moment I’ll consider throwing it away. Anyways, it should be interesting, if not profitable.
